The Babanango Foundation Hosts Successful Youth Career Expo at Babanango

Babanango, South Africa – March 3, 2025 – The Babanango Foundation in partnership with Babanango Game Reserve (BGR) successfully hosted its inaugural Youth Career Expo in Babanango, aimed at inspiring and empowering the next generation of leaders. The event, which took place on the 26 th of February 2025, was a vibrant gathering of youth, professionals, and stakeholders, with a shared goal of fostering opportunities for youth development and career exploration.

The expo brought together prominent stakeholders, including representatives from the Babanango Game Reserve, Babanango South African Police Service (SAPS), the Department of Justice, the Department of Social Development, Skills Development Practitioners and Mthashane TVET College. These organisations joined forces to provide valuable insights and resources to the youth in the community, showcasing the diverse career paths available in fields ranging from wildlife conservation to law enforcement, justice, social services, and technical education.

“The Youth Career Expo is a critical initiative that highlights the vast array of career opportunities in our region,” said Thina Nyathi, Foundation Manager of The Babanango Foundation.

“We are proud to have such an engaged group of stakeholders, who are committed to guiding and mentoring our youth. This event is a testament to our commitment to fostering a brighter future for young people in Babanango and beyond.”

The expo featured a series of presentations and panel discussions, to give attendees a real-world understanding of various professions. Young people were encouraged to explore career paths in sectors that are integral to the local economy and society, with special emphasis on conservation efforts, sustainable tourism, law enforcement, and community development.

Representatives from Mthashane TVET College were also on hand, sharing information about vocational training and educational opportunities to help young people develop the practical skills needed to succeed in today’s job market. 

The Youth Career Expo was not only an informational event but also a platform for networking, mentorship, and collaboration. It provided youth with the tools and motivation to take the next steps in their educational and professional journeys, while fostering a sense of community involvement and empowerment.

The Babanango Foundation plans to continue hosting such initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to youth development and conservation efforts in the region.
